Where’s The Roadmap To The Future?

Experiencing An Outage Is Bad Enough.
Until Your Users Are The First To Know.

3-1At that point, things can go from bad to worse in a hurry. That’s what happened to a large IT services company facing:

  • A high number of frequent, long outages witnessed by end-users first
  • An operational environment rapidly becoming more unpredictable
  • Internal IT feeling the brunt of employee frustrations all the time

To make matters particularly confusing, the company was committing far too many tools – 39 in total – to its monitoring issues. Managers knew they didn’t need anywhere near that amount of tools, but which ones would they keep? Which would they part with? It was a nightmare of a landscape for C-suite executives in the business to know which technical issues to prioritize.

3-2THE SILENT IT SOLUTION

Obviously the business had to find an optimal mix of tools, metrics and thresholds to completely cover all of its requirements. Yet our team at Silent IT was also determined to identify fewer tools while accomplishing that comprehensive goal. So as we developed a future state roadmap, we reduced the existing tool set by 85%, going from 39 tools to 6.

OUR RESULTS3-3

By identifying a better, more efficient set of tools for the customer, Silent IT helped them realize a cost savings of over $4 million. The process created a culture shift within IT Operations that improved operational predictability, performance and recovery.
